Cal-Tex Electric has provided free training courses for our apprentices since 2014. We also offer a variety of classes to our apprentices and journeymen in a variety of topics such as:

Conduit bending
Reading blueprints/construction drawings
Grounding and bonding
Relays
Motors
Transformers and MORE!

In 2023, Cal-Tex rolled out the new Cal-Tex Electric Training Program. Our instructors utilize Mike Holt training material. Mike Holt has been a name in the electrical industry for over 50 years and almost every electrician would recognize his name! The Mike Holt program is known for its phenomenal graphics and online platform, which allows us to remotely teach our classes to our Sioux Falls branch.

Mike Holt is an author, businessman, educator, speaker, publisher and National Electrical Code® expert.

He has written hundreds of electrical training books and articles, founded three successful businesses, and has thousands of electrical code seminars across the US and internationally.

His company, Mike Holt Enterprises, has been serving the electrical industry for close to 50 years.

CAL-TEX UNIVERSITY OFFERS FREE CONTINUED EDUCATION!

We offer our electricians free in-house electrical continuing education courses. In Minnesota, every apprentice must take a state approved 2-hour continuing education class every year and journeymen are required to take a 16-hour state-approved course every other year.

All of our classes are tailored to the needs of the apprentice by experience, years in the trade and general electrical knowledge
Our instructors for the classroom environment are our Field Foremen, all have over 15 years of experience as a field electrician and have worked for Cal-Tex for over 10 years
We pair our apprentices with the most experienced journeymen in the field to maximize the “hands-on” field learning experience
We pay for any apprentices outside journeyman test prep classes up to $500
We offer Saturday classes on pipe bending, controls and low-voltage for all field Team Members who want to brush up on their skills
Every quarter Cal-Tex requires that all of our Field Team Members attend a 1 hour safety class to stay current on all things safety
We support all of our Team Members on their journey to become the finest electricians in our industry
